Bangers, also known as dabbing buckets, are becoming increasingly popular among vaporizers, dabbers, and smokers. Several essential tools and accessories have been introduced to the world of dabbing in recent years. Bangers are certainly among the finest dabbing components you can have in your collection. Bangers are an effective alternative to the traditional dab rigs, the larger desktop setups for dry herbs and waxes. Bangers are ideal for concentrates.
Introduction to Bangers
Bangers are for those dabbers who want an enriched and enhanced session with concentrates. Such tools offer more control and deliver cleaner, smoother, and flavorful vapors. Bangers are a kind of dab nail, not to be confused with e-nail. These are often referred to as dabbing buckets because the shapes are cylindrical or like bowls. Bangers work as a dish or receptacle, where you would place and heat the chosen concentrate.
There are many variants of bangers, mostly in regards to size and shape. Different materials are used to make dabbing buckets. Glass remains a commonly used material, but quartz and titanium have become more popular now. Ceramic is also used. Quartz continues to be the best material for bangers, owing to its lack of interference in flavors and also the ability to endure high heat. Durability and ease of cleaning are also factors at play. Titanium is sturdier and hence more durable than quartz, but the latter delivers more flavorful vapor.
Benefits of Quartz Bangers
Bangers can be made of different materials. What matters most is the material of the nail. Quartz nails have been popular for a while now. Bangers with quartz nails are certainly superior due to a few exceptional features. Titanium and ceramic nails are better than glass, but quartz outdoes all three.
Heat Retention
Quartz has a high heat threshold. It does not undergo any physical or chemical changes when exposed to considerably high temperatures. However, what makes quarts more reliable is its ability to retain the attained heat. Irrespective of the heat element you use, quartz will retain the higher temperatures attained for a longer period of time. This has a direct effect on the heating up of the concentrate, and thus the vapor produced by a banger. Quartz also tends to dissipate this heat slowly and steadily. This enables users to have better control over the temperature. Glass cools down rapidly. Titanium also fails to retain heat as effectively and over the period of time that quartz is capable of.
Quality of Flavor
A quartz nail does not need frequent reheating, which makes it more convenient to use. Quartz is also an inert material. It does not react chemically, unlike other materials. Titanium can interact with the concentrates during the heating process and when the heat is dissipated. This is why there is a slightly metallic taste and aroma in the vapor. The flavor of any concentrate is at its finest when a quartz nail is used. Those who are particularly fond of high temperature dabbing should always go for a quartz banger.
Sturdy and Durable
Glass does not have any adverse effect on flavor. Ceramic also has no major chemical reaction to heat or the concentrate as the vapor is produced. These two materials are preferred by many due to this attribute. Quartz delivers the same without being as fragile or vulnerable as glass. Ceramic is a tad stronger, but not as sturdy or durable as quartz. Glass can break when exposed to extreme heat. Quartz will not.
Types of Joint
Joints are the ends of tubes, tips, pipes, or mouthpieces that get fitted into other components, or external accessories. All joints can be classified as male or female. This is also referred to as the gender of a joint. If you have bongs, water pipes, and other accessories for smoking or vaporizing, then you should choose other components that are compatible with the joints.
Male Joint
A wider port or connection that allows a bowl to be inserted will require a male joint. The gender classification for joints is the same as is used to categorize pipes, and electrical outlets. For bongs or water pipes that have a wider port, you will need a male banger.
Female Joint
A narrower port or connection that is inserted into a bowl or other component requires a female joint. For bongs or water pipes that have a narrower port, you will need a female banger. Perform a last minute check before you finalize your choice between a male banger and female banger.
Sizes of Joint
In addition to the gender of the joint, you must also bear in mind the quintessential attribute of size. You cannot use two joints that are not compatible in size. The most common sizes of joints are: 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm. 10mm joints are micro or nano. Those with 14mm diameter are the medium sized pipes or bongs. The diameter is 14.4mm in these joints, to be precise. Any reference to 14mm implies that specific diameter. Likewise, 18mm is actually the rounded off metric for 18.8mm. Such a large joint is found in desktop setups, or the bigger bongs and water pipes.
How to Clean and Maintain a Banger Nail
Every banger nail must be cleaned and properly maintained, irrespective of the material it is made of. Quartz nails should be timely cleaned and the process is quite simple. It is important to note that quartz nails should not be cleaned using any corrosive cleaning agent. Bleach or similar substances must be avoided. Any abrasive substance or tool can cause damage to a quartz nail. Tiny scratches that may not be easily visible would impair the dabbing experience.
Simple cotton or a microfiber cloth can be used to clean a quartz banger nail. You can wipe the nail to clean it once every three or four sessions. Do not wait till several sessions as the residual buildup would be harder to wipe off and clean. If you have a severely dirty quartz banger, and normal water or wiping would not work, then you can use some salt, isopropyl alcohol and warm water. You can soak the quartz banger nail in this solution for an entire night. Then rinse it using warm water and wipe using a clean cloth. The residual buildup should be gone.
Tips for using Bangers
Always heat the exterior of a quartz nail. Only the tip that would get in direct contact with the concentrate while dabbing needs to be substantially hot. You don’t need to heat other parts of a banger.
Do not overheat a banger. Do not take the nail away from the heat source unless it is sufficiently hot. Everyone needs a bit of practice to gauge the right quantum of heat a banger should be subjected to. The type of concentrate would also influence the degree of heat you need the quartz nail to acquire.

Nectar collector, also referred to as dab straw, is a vaporizing tool. It is mostly used to vaporize concentrates, such as wax, sugar, budder, diamond, sauce, and shatter, among others. A nectar collector is alternately known as dab straw due to two reasons.
Smoking pipes have been around for four thousand years. According to available archeological evidence, the earliest smoking pipes in Egypt were made of copper, albeit it is not certain whether these were used in rituals or for recreational purposes.
